Ukraine should join the EU in the shortest possible time frame

Micheál Martin, Taoiseach (Prime Minister of Ireland), said that he was a “strong advocate from the beginning” of Ukraine becoming an EU member and that more generally, he backed a “faster, more accelerated” process towards membership, the Times reported.
Speaking at the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe conference, Martin stated that it was “very clear” to him that Ukraine’s future was within the European Union. “I am of the view that we need to look at a faster and more accelerated process [of countries joining the EU],” he said.
