Ukraine Square will be created in Tallinn
On April 20, 2022, Tallinn decided to establish Ukraine Square in the Estonian capital.
According to the Vice Mayor of Tallinn, Joozep Wimm, the Tallinn Naming Committee proposed the city government consider three locations for the future Ukraine Square.
“The most worthy of them seemed to be the option to create a square in Ukraine in Lembitu Park, which is located behind the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia. For several reasons, it is a symbolic place. Almost all buildings in this sector were destroyed during the March bombing of 1944. Iceland Square is located on the other side, so Ukraine Square and Iceland Square together would form such a complete ensemble,” said Joozep Wimm.
