Ukraine will not default, despite the war

The idea of not paying off the public debts has been discussed in the Ukrainian government since the first days of the Russian invasion, confirmed Finance Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko. He called those who hold this position “hotheads”. “We categorically rejected this idea,” said Marchenko. “The logic is simple: if you want to take new loans, please carefully service the old ones.” This year, Ukraine should have no difficulty in complying with this principle thanks to the close cooperation and financial support of Ukraine’s international partners.
