Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba awards young singer Sofiia Samoyliuk who refused to perform with Russian participant at the Sanremo Festival

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has awarded Ukrainian singer Sofiia Samoliuk who refused to perform at the Sanremo contest with a Russian participant. 13-year-old Sofiia Samoliuk refused to share a stage with a Russian contestant ahead of her performance at a singing contest in Italy. “Without singing a single word, but by saying important words, she won a victory for Ukraine in San Remo. I am grateful to her for this, and I do not want her to be deprived of a well-deserved award because of the festival organizers. Therefore, I am honoring her with a special thanks from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the victory of the spirit in cultural diplomacy,” stated Kuleba.
