Ukrainian author Serhii Zhadan became the first-ever winner of the Freedom Prize from the Frank Schirrmacher Foundation

Ukraine’s author and musician, Serhiy Zhadan, became the first-ever winner of the Freedom Prize from the Frank Schirmacher Foundation — the publisher of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
In 2022, the Freedom Award was presented for the first time, together with the traditional award. The prize money is 10,000 Swiss francs ($10,700). Serhii Zhadan promised to use these funds for volunteer needs. The award ceremony will take place in the fall of 2022 in Zurich.
