Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko canceled his bout with George Kambosos Jr. to defend Ukraine
Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko has put off the fight for the title of absolute world champion against George Kambosos Jr. to become a member of a territorial defense battalion in Ukraine. Despite the fact that the boxer has permission to leave the country, he remains with his people. The mayor of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Vitaliy Grazhdan has informed the public about Vasyl’s decision.
“Since February 27, Vasyl Lomachenko has been in the ranks of our territorial defense. He is defending Ukraine along with everyone else. Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi has nothing to worry about,” commented the mayor. The opponent’s promoter Lou DiBella has also commented on the situation. “The fight he’s going through right now is much bigger than any boxing match,” he said.
