Ukrainian canoeist Yuriy Cheban raised over $100,000 for Ukrainian army by selling his Olympic medals

Two-time Olympic champion Ukrainian canoeist Yuriy Cheban auctioned all his medals.
According to him, it was difficult to get awards away, but he understood that they could benefit the country.
“I’m sure these medals should do more than just be on the shelf. At some point, the country gave me good opportunities, and I want to return the favor. These medals will still be useful,” the canoeist says.
He managed to raise over $100,000 for the Ukrainian army.
The athlete had three Olympic medals: two gold medals, which he won in London 2012 and Rio 2016, and one bronze medal he won in Beijing 2008.
