Ukrainian chess grandmaster Pavlo Eljanov refused to play at the European Chess Championship due to the participation of players from Russia and Belarus

Chess grandmaster Pavlo Eljanov from Kharkiv stated about his refusal to participate in Championship on Facebook.
“I respect those Russian chess players who signed an open letter against the war but I consider it impossible to play against any Russian or Belorussian player (whatever flag they have) until the end of the war (i.e, until our victory),” he said.
