Ukrainian company Respeecher teaches a neural network to recognize the Crimean Tatar language

Ukrainian company Respeecher is training a neural network to recognize the Crimean Tatar language, the founders of the company told Ukrainska Pravda.Life.

Voice assistants such as Siri or Alexa will be able to recognize commands, translate text, and search for information, the message reads.

According to the Respeecher founders, this will contribute to the popularization of the language among native speakers.

“The process of collecting and analyzing information is quite time-consuming: it can take from several weeks to several months, depending on the quality of the audio. However, our team wants this resource to be free and available in open sources.

We believe that this will help popularize the use, both Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar,” said Dmytro Bielievtsov, Respeecher’s chief technical officer.

The company became widely known in the world thanks to their “clone” of the voice of legendary actor James Earl Jones, 91, for the recent Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

The actor granted Disney permission to replicate his vocal performance as Darth Vader in future projects using Respeecher.
