Ukrainian Contemporary Music Festival in New York: Art & Charity

In partnership with Razom for Ukraine, Leah Kazhankamin, an American music icon with Ukrainian roots, launched a festival of contemporary Ukrainian academic music in 2018. The festival was immediately sponsored by the Ukrainian Institute, and Mikhailo Chedryk worked on the concept and program. This is a lovely and necessary project that brings the music of our great composers to one of the world’s most important cultural centers.
Three weeks before the launch, the war broke out, making AI funding impossible. Leah, on the other hand, was able to quickly raise funds and save the festival. Half of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Ukraine’s humanitarian aid.
