Ukrainian fighters in Soledar are trying to keep the defense

The night in Soledar was hot; fighting continued. The enemy threw almost all the main forces to the Donetsk direction and maintained a high intensity of the offensive, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar reported on Telegram. Maliar noted that “this is a difficult stage of the war, but Ukraine will undoubtedly win.”

In his evening video address on Jan. 12, 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukrainian defenders still hold the city. The US Department of Defense also did not confirm that Soledar, Donetsk region, was captured by Russian occupiers.
