Ukrainian forces make new advances in Bakhmut

Ukraine’s forces made new advances in heavy fighting in the eastern city of Bakhmut, Operational Command East spokesman Serhii Cherevatyi reported on May 18, 2023.

“We are successfully conducting a defensive operation, counterattacking, and during this day, our units have penetrated up to 500 meters in some parts of the Bakhmut front,” he noted. For more than nine months, the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region remained the key hotspot on the combat map. Russia continues to invest enormous resources in the attempt to capture the city.
