Ukrainian President receives Charlemagne Prize for promoting European unity
The Aachen International Charlemagne Prize 2023 was awarded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.
“The Ukrainian people, under the leadership of their President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are not only defending the sovereignty of their country and the lives of their citizens, but also Europe and European values,” the board of directors of the prize said in a statement.
The Ukrainian President received the award on behalf of Ukrainians. Zelenskyy emphasized that European unity is becoming a superpower, so it is time to enshrine this unity by deciding on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and defining the algorithm of the country’s accession to NATO.
