Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a historic visit to the United States
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made his first foreign trip since Russia started the full-scale war on Feb. 24, 2022. He came to the United States at the invitation of Joe Biden.
Zelenskyy received a warm welcome at the White House and a standing ovation in Congress. During his address to the US Congress Zelenskyy said his country is still “alive and kicking” despite Russian “tyranny”.
He thanked the US for the support of Ukraine and called on the US to place further sanctions on Russia, and bring the people behind the war to justice.
At the end of his speech, he quoted Franklin D Roosevelt’s during the second world war: “The American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory,” adding, “I tell you: The Ukrainian people will win, too: absolutely.”
