Ukrainian surgeons removed unexploded grenade lodged in soldier’s chest

Ukrainian surgeons removed an unexploded grenade from just beneath the heart of the injured Ukrainian serviceman, while two sappers ensured the operation was conducted safely, Ukrainian Medical Forces Command reports.
The operation was carried out by one of the most experienced surgeons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Andrii Verba. The surgeon used electrocoagulation — a common method to control bleeding during surgery — because the grenade could detonate at any moment.
The surgical intervention was successful, and the wounded serviceman was sent for further rehabilitation and recovery.
