Ukrainian writer Serhiy Zhadan received the Polish Prize of Sérgio Vieira de Mello

Ukrainian writer Serhiy Zhadan was awarded the Polish Prize of Sérgio Vieira de Mello. According to the writer, he is going to invest the remuneration in the defense of Kharkiv.

The Prize of Sérgio Vieira de Mello was established with an aim to promote human rights, democracy, and tolerance. Sérgio Vieira de Mello was the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (2002-2003). He was killed in a bomb raid on the UN headquarters in Baghdad. Sérgio Vieira de Mello actively supported protection of freedom and human rights.
