Ukrainian Yevhen Maloletka wins the World Press Photo of the Year award for his picture of Mariupol maternity hospital bombed by Russians

Ukrainian photographer and journalist Yevhen Maloletka has won the World Press Photo of the Year award for his picture of emergency workers carrying a pregnant woman through the shattered grounds of a maternity hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, in the chaotic aftermath of a Russian attack. This picture is another piece of evidence of the horror Russia brought to Ukraine. The photo shows 32-year-old Iryna Kalinina, an injured pregnant woman who died after giving birth to her stillborn child. “For me, it is a moment that all the time I want to forget, but I cannot. The story will always stay with me,” Mr. Maloletka said in an interview ahead of the announcement, Sky News reports.
