Ukrainians in New York City held a rally against the ecocide Russia caused in Ukraine

On Feb. 5, 2023, in New York’s Times Square, Ukrainians held a rally to draw attention to another dimension of Russia’s war against Ukraine — the ecocide, as the damage caused by Russia to Ukraine’s environment is estimated at approximately $37 billion.

“The world must stop the barbaric extermination of a third of Ukraine’s ecosystem by fireflies, which affects the climate of Europe,” wrote the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York on Facebook.
