UN General Assembly condemned Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution condemning Russiaʼs attempt to annex four Ukrainian regions.

143 countries voted in favor of a resolution that called Moscow’s move illegal. And only 5 countries voted against the resolution — Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Nicaragua, and Syria.

The adopted resolution declares that Moscow’s actions violate Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and are “inconsistent” with the principles of the UN charter. It demands that Russia “immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to 143 states that supported the resolution.
“The world had its say — RF’s attempt at annexation is worthless & will never be recognized by free nations. Ukraine will return all its lands,” he stated.
