UN General Assembly urges Russia to stop full-scale invasion of Ukraine
The UN General Assembly has supported document A/ES-11/L.2, which holds Russia responsible for the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and calls for an immediate ceasefire.
Some 140 countries voted in favor of the resolution, while 38 countries abstained, and another five countries voted against it.
The document proposed by France and Mexico reaffirms the commitment to “the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine” and condemns Russia’s military aggression on the country’s territory. The draft document calls on Russia to stop hostilities, immediately withdraw its troops and return to the path of dialogue.
