Voices of Ukraine: The Guardian organizes literature reading in support of Ukraine

“Voices of Ukraine: authors read from the literature of Ukraine” will be held on May 27, 2022, in person at a London venue and via a live stream. The recording will be available on-demand for ticket holders.

Karl Ove Knausgaard, Ian McEwan, neurosurgeon Henry Marsh, and poet Alice Oswald are among the writers who will read the work of their Ukrainian peers in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Joining them will be Women’s prize winner Kamila Shamsie and the Costa prize-winning author of Open Water, Caleb Azumah Nelson.

Participants will also hear video-recorded readings by Ukrainian poets Boris and Liudmyla Khersonsky and a conversation with acclaimed Ukrainian poet and academic Ostap Slyvynsky.

This event will take place in Kings Place, London, and audience members can join in person or via the livestream. All proceeds will be donated to the DEC Ukraine humanitarian appeal.
